An explosion in yobe killed 42
An explosion ripped through a school in northeast Nigeria on Monday, as students gathered for morning assembly before classes began, a teacher and a medic told us. The blast happened at the Government Comprehensive Senior Science Secondary School in Potiskum, Yobe state, as students waited to hear the principal’s daily address.

“The students had gathered for the morning assembly when something exploded in their midst with a thunderous sound at exactly 7:50 am (0650 GMT),” said one teacher, who asked not to be identified.
“The explosion has affected many students but I can’t say how many because we are now evacuating the victims to the hospital which is just 100 metres (yards) away,” the teacher added, sobbing.
A medic at the Potiskum General Hospital where the victims were taken said scores of students had been admitted.
“We are still receiving casualties from the school which is a stone’s throw from here,” the medic said.
“Our priority now is to save the injured, so we have not started a headcount of the victims.”
A local resident, Adamu Alkassim, said there was confusion in and around the school but the scene was a mass of abandoned footwear and blood.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack but Boko Haram militants are likely to be the prime suspects.
The group, which wants to create a hardline Islamic state in northern Nigerian, has previously carried out deadly attacks on schools teaching a so-called Western curriculum since 2009.

In February, gunmen killed at least 40 students when they opened fire on students and threw explosives into the dormitory of a government boarding school in Buni Yadi, also in Yobe state.
In July last year 42 students were killed when Boko Haram gunmen attacked dormitories with guns and explosives in a government boarding school in the village of Mamudo, near Potiskum.
Potiskum, the commercial hub of Yobe state, has been repeatedly targeted by deadly attacks blamed on Boko Haram.
Just last week, at least 15 people were killed in a suicide bomb attack targeting a Shia religious ceremony in the city.
Yobe is one of three northeastern states that has been under a state of emergency since May last year to try to quell the bloody insurgency.
But violence has continued unabated and Boko Haram has seized at least two dozen towns and villages in recent months, raising fears of the government’s ability to control the region.

ronaldo is the new alfredo di stefano says madrid legend
Ronaldo the Di Stefano of the 21st century, says Gento
The former Spain international has nothing but praise for the prolific attacker and has compared him to his illustrious former team-mate
Real Madrid legend Francisco Gento believes Cristiano Ronaldo is the Alfredo Di Stefano of the 21st century.
Di Stefano guided Madrid to eight Spanish league titles and five European Cups between 1953 and 1964 and is widely regarded as one of the best players in the history of the game.
Ronaldo has been compared to Di Stefano by club president Florentino Perez and himself suggested he shares similarities with the iconic forward, and Gento believes the Portugal star to be "one of a kind" in his generation - just like the man from Buenos Aires.
"Is Ronaldo a worthy heir to Di Stefano? Yes. Di Stefano was an idol of mine. He was great. He arrived when he was 27 and scored in an era which was very good for Madrid," Gento was quoted as saying byAS.
"Cristiano is one of a kind, as Di Stefano was. He is the Di Stefano of this century. Two stars who will forever be in history. What great goals he scores, I scored 12 or 13 in the league and could see how hard it was and now I see him and how easily he does it.
"The last time we spoke was at the draw for the Champions League. He knows my history. We have talked about that time.
"He is already amongst the best ever. He has many trophies and he is a great player. So is [Lionel] Messi. They are the two that lead the way for all the titles. I think Cristiano is strong and will last longer.
"Ronaldo deserves the Ballon d'Or. He is going to get everything he wants. For the club I prefer them to win European cups, but it is satisfying to win these individual titles because they are also for Madrid."
Ronaldo has been in sublime form in 2014-15, netting 18 goals in 10 La Liga appearances.
Moyes looking to rebuild his reputation after Manchester United misery
The 51-year-old Scot has agreed to take over the San Sebastian side in an intriguing move he hopes will restore his damaged reputation
A missed opportunity. That's how David Moyes described his visit to Anoeta last November when Robin van Persie hit the post with a penalty and Javier Hernandez squandered another clear chance in a goalless game against Real Sociedad in the Champions League.
Moyes' troublesome 10-month spell at Old Trafford could also be labelled a missed opportunity as the Scot failed to meet the expectations of a club fed spectacular success in 26 years under Sir Alex Ferguson. But back in the Basque Country, a new opportunity now awaits.
United chose Moyes to succeed Ferguson because they wanted continuity. In more than a decade at Everton, the Glaswegian coach had worked wonders on a tight budget as the Toffees regularly punched above their weight in the Premier League.
Many clubs watched in admiration and Real Sociedad were one of them. Moyes made a good impression on officials during his visit with United last season in the Champions League and when the Basque outfit sacked Jagoba Arrasate earlier this month, president Jokin Aperribay made the Scot his top target.
"Moyes fits the bill," a source at the Spanish side told Goal last week. "His characteristics fit well with the current playing squad and he impressed with the work he did at Everton. Here, he will be expected to operate in similar circumstances - to get the best out of the squad and bring players through the youth system."
Moyes is unable to go into detail on his time at Manchester United due to the non-disclosure deal he signed when he left Old Trafford, but the Scot is desperate to prove he was hard done by and eager to show what he can do in his next job. "I was devastated to lose the job because it was something I felt I could make a real success of," he said in an interview with The Daily Mail back in August. "We knew it was going to take time to make the necessary changes. It was going to take time to evolve. But we were in the process of making other important changes. In the end, I don't feel I was given time to succeed or fail."
United made moves for Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Cesc Fabregas during his time at the club, but none of those players arrived and Moyes made do with Marouane Fellaini instead for an inflated €32.4m. "It's been well documented that we wanted Fabregas, Bale and Ronaldo," Moyes said in the summer. "We were close to getting a couple of major names."
There will be no such names linked to Real Sociedad over the next season and a half, but Moyes will be given the time and space to get on with his work without the pressure of succeeding one of the most successful managers in history. At United, he had to win titles. At Real Sociedad, expectations will be similar to what they were at Everton - and that will suit Moyes just fine.
The Scot held talks with Galatasaray in June and admitted he had received "one or two tempting offers" over the summer. He has also recently been linked to the likes of Inter and Schalke. In Real Sociedad, Moyes joins an exciting club with a competitive squad still among the top six or eight sides in Spain.
He will get the chance to pit his wits against Barcelona and Real Madrid in La Liga while living in one of the country's most agreeable cities, far away from the brutal British press pack. So even though there will be difficulties in adjusting to language and culture, the move makes sense as the 51-year-old seeks to rebuild his reputation just like former England manager Steve McLaren did at FC Twente in the Netherlands.
"You look at how well Terry Venables did in Spain and how well Bobby Robson did," Moyes said earlier this year. "They are up there with the great managers and both had periods working in Europe."
And after what happened at Manchester United, Moyes is desperate to prove that he too can be remembered as one of those great managers.
Manchester United still aiming for the Champions League
Mata: Manchester United still aiming for the Champions League
The Spain international has struggled to nail down a place in the 63-year-old's starting XI at Old Trafford in 2014-15 but nonetheless praises the Dutchman's integrity
Juan Mata says Manchester United are still aiming for a place in the Champions League next season, despite a poor start to their league campaign. The Red Devils have picked up 16 points after 11 Premier League games, four less than they had at the same point last season under David Moyes.
Moyes was sacked in April and United went on to finish seventh in the league, 15 points behind fourth-placed Arsenal.
Despite the club's underachievement on the league table, Mata maintains the team's aim is to qualify for next season's Champions League.
"The aim is to get in the Champions League because the club did not qualify last season," he told Cope.
"We'd all love to the team to score more goals but, in the end, the forwards will end up scoring more than 15 goals."
The Spain international played a full 90-minute match just three times this season and has previously been heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford but scored a vital winner against Crystal Palace on Saturday after coming on as a substitute.
And Mata is pleased to be working under a manager who does not sugarcoat anything.
"He is, above all, honest. He tells you the good and bad to your face," the ex-Chelsea man added.
Former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes has been training with United since late October as he aims to regain fitness, though a contract with the club is not necessarily expected, and Mata confirmed that current No.1 David de Gea does not feel under threat for his place.
"I have spoken with Valdes. He's training with the team and we're looking forward to seeing what his plans are soon," the midfielder explained. "De Gea is not nervous."

justin bieber takes Kendall Jenner To Church
Pop Star Takes Kendall Jenner To Church
Why would the Biebs take his 'friend' to his sacred place and still insists they are just friends? Is Selena Gomez seeing this?
It may be true that Justin Bieber is trying to kiss goodbye to his bad boy image by drawing closer to God but does he have to take alleged GF Kendall Jenner, 19, and friend Hailey Baldwin, 18, to service too?
The trio were spotted attending worship service at the Hillsong Church in New York City on Nov. 9, same chapel him and ex, Selena Gomez, 22, used to attend in Los Angeles.
According to Daily Mail, the 20-year-old pop star has frequented Hillsong Church before as he's turned to God to help him find his feet again...especially to get his music career up and kicking.
Eventhough Kendall didn't sit close to the Biebs, she appeared very captivated with the service. Both have been getting a little too close lately and both were also together at Kendall's 19 birthday bash in L.A.
However, Justin's ex Selena sang a birthday song to Kendall which makes the entire love triangle weird and difficult to understand.
Bieber's mom also called Kendall a "home-wrecker" after Selena dumped her son for dining with the model in Paris last month.
Well, for the Biebs to take Kendall to his sacred place, this should mean a whole lot to him!
